Maryland NEVI Program Round 3 is Now Available!

On March 17, 2026, the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) issued the Round 3 Request for Proposals (RFP) for Maryland’s National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Program to continue corridor buildout. The RFP will close on June 24, 2026, at 2:00 PM.

MDOT will host a virtual Pre-Proposal Conference on March 30, 2026, at 2:00 PM EST. Presentation materials, including a transcript, from the Pre-Proposal Conference will be available on eMaryland Marketplace Advantage (eMMA) following the event.

Maryland announces NEVI Round 2 Conditional Awards!

On October 28, 2025, Maryland announced conditional awards for 12 projects spanning 12 counties. These projects will install public, convenient, and reliable DC fast chargers along the state’s designated EV Alternative Fuel Corridors.

RFI on Medium- and Heavy-Duty EV Charging Infrastructure

On August 27, 2025, the Clean Corridor Coalition (C3) issued a Request for Information (RFI) regarding medium- and heavy-duty vehicle (MHDV) charging technologies, infrastructure requirements, site design, and industry needs, as well as information on grant program design criteria.

The coalition is led by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection in partnership with the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, Delaware Department of Transportation, Maryland Department of Transportation, and Maryland Department of the Environment.

The RFI is now closed.

Maryland ZEVIP Survey!

On April 25, 2025, the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) released a new survey seeking input from Maryland residents, local fleet managers, and professionals in the electric vehicle (EV) industry to inform Maryland’s Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Plan (ZEVIP). Results from the 10-minute survey will help us understand the EV charging needs, opportunities, and challenges for Maryland. 

The survey closed on Friday, June 13, 2025.

Maryland NEVI Program Round 2 is Now Available!

On December 17, 2024, MDOT issued Maryland’s NEVI Round 2 RFP to continue corridor buildout. The RFP deadline has been extended and will close on August 27, 2025, at 12:00 PM.

MDOT hosted a virtual Pre-Proposal Conference on January 14, 2025, at 2:00 PM EST. Presentation materials, including a transcript, from the Pre-Proposal Conference are available on eMMA.

Maryland’s 2024 NEVI Plan Update Approved

Maryland’s 2024 State Plan Update for National Electric Vehicles (NEVI) was submitted to the Joint Office of Energy and Transportation by September 1, 2024. Maryland’s plan was approved by the Joint Office in November 2024 .

Maryland announces NEVI Round 1 Conditional Awards!

On July 10, 2024, Maryland announced conditional awards for 23 projects spanning 15 counties. These projects will install public, convenient, and reliable DC fast chargers along the state’s designated EV Alternative Fuel Corridors.

MDOT to Host Three Public NEVI Webinars

MDOT hosted three webinars in June to provide the public with information about electrifying Maryland’s transportation sector and solicit opinions on electric vehicles and EV charging stations. The same information was shared at all three webinars.

Maryland EV and Infrastructure Planning Survey

The Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) released the Maryland EV and Infrastructure Planning Survey in April. It sought to identify the challenges and opportunities associated with electric vehicle (EV) ownership and the installation of EV charging infrastructure. The survey, which closed on May 15th, had over 1,400 respondents.

Maryland NEVI Program Round 1 is Now Available!

Round 1 opened for online proposals on January 16, 2024, and will close on April 10, 2024, at 5:00 PM.

MDOT will host a virtual Pre-Proposal Conference on February 13, 2024, at 10:00 AM EST.

Maryland’s 2023 NEVI Plan Update Approved

Maryland’s 2023 State Plan Update for National Electric Vehicles (NEVI) was submitted to the Joint Office of Energy and Transportation on August 1, 2023. Maryland’s plan was approved by the Joint Office on September 29, 2023.

MDOT Launched the Electric Vehicle Charger Siting Tool

In June 2023, MDOT launched the Electric Vehicle Charger Siting Tool. The interactive tool consolidated data from a variety of state and federal agencies to inform applications for grant funding.

In 2025, MDOT replaced the tool with the Maryland EV Charging Suitability Tool.

Maryland’s NEVI Plan Approved!

Maryland’s State Plan for National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Funding Deployment was submitted to The Joint Office of Energy and Transportation on Friday, July 15, 2022.

Maryland’s plan was approved by the Joint Office on September 14, 2022.
